Simmons Russo Chartered Accountants

Practice

Audit, assurance, forensic and technical advisory.

The practice is organised around four service families. Engagements are accepted selectively, partner-led, and reported with the candour our clients, and their boards, expect.

01

Audit & Assurance

Independent assurance, calibrated to its audience.

Statutory and special-purpose assurance for boards, members and regulators. Partner-led, technically rigorous, plainly reported.

Engagements are conducted in accordance with Australian Auditing Standards and APES professional requirements. Reporting is calibrated to its audience, whether directors, members, trustees or regulators, without sacrificing technical depth.

The practice serves a wide cross-section: local and state government, listed entities, multinational subsidiaries, registered clubs, cooperatives and not-for-profits.

02

Risk Advisory & Governance

Counsel for boards, audit committees and integrity bodies.

Independent insight that strengthens accountability, drawn from sustained work alongside ministers, audit committees and integrity agencies.

The firm advises directly to Boards, Audit & Risk Committees, ministers and integrity bodies, delivering independent insights that strengthen governance and accountability.

Where the matter is reputation-sensitive, such as procurement probity, contract management oversight or prudential review, engagements are accepted only where independence and continuity can be guaranteed.

03

Forensic Accounting & Expert Witness

Evidence prepared to the standard the court demands.

Steven Russo has provided expert evidence in the Supreme, District, Licensing and Federal Courts, and engagements with ICAC and the Attorney-General's Department.

Forensic engagements are conducted with the rigour and impartiality of an expert witness. Evidence first, opinion second, conclusions defended. Reports are prepared in accordance with the Federal Court Expert Witness Code of Conduct and equivalent state guidelines.

Acting for plaintiff and defendant law firms, regulators and corporate counsel on quantification of loss, business valuation in dispute, partnership and shareholder disputes, and investigation of suspected misconduct.

04

Strategic & Technical Advisory

Technical accounting and corporate finance counsel.

Complex transactions, AASB/IFRS application, restructuring and continuity planning. The questions that arise where finance, governance and regulation intersect.

Advisory work concentrates on the matters that sit at the junction of finance, tax and governance: AASB/IFRS technical accounting positions, complex transaction structuring, restructure and continuity planning, and large-scale government contract advisory.

Steven Russo holds Chartered Tax Adviser status and is a Registered Tax Agent. Advisory engagements are typically arranged at director or owner level.
